Stephen Robert Wood

Stephen Robert Wood, 76, of Seminole, Oklahoma, passed away on January 20, 2025, four days after abdominal surgery.

Steve was born on July 23, 1948, to Robert and Mary (Lopez) Wood, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. He was a musician from the time he was a boy – when his dad taught him to play the ukulele. He eventually graduated to guitars – acoustic and electric – as well as many other instruments. As an adult he had several rock & roll bands. Steve was soft-spoken, determined, kind, and a steadfast friend.

After leaving high school in his senior year, Steve got his GED, eventually becoming an electronics design engineer. He had a show (Dog Dreams) on Sirius radio, where he promoted new music talents – young & old – as well as his own original music. Steve’s all-time favorite song was Tennessee Waltz, by Patsy Cline.

In 1971 Steve met his wife, Caroline, and they were married in 1973, eventually getting custody of the son from his first marriage – Stephen Shane. Steve had one grandson – Tyler James Hall (married to Lori), as well as a great-granddaughter – Trinity Eeve Ray Hall.

After retirement, Steve spent his time playing and recording music, helping Caroline with her Rat Terrier rescue, making yummy preserves from home-grown fruit, caring for his chickens, and spoiling his beloved great-granddaughter.

Steve is survived by his wife of 51 years; his maternal aunts, Beatrice (Lopez) Aikins and Birdie (Lopez) Hendrickson, of Las Vegas, Neveda; his son, Shane; grandson, Tyler; great-granddaughter, Trinity; and many cousins across the nation.

Steve was predeceased by his father, Robert Harold Wood, and his mother, Mary Frances Wood; his brothers, Mark and Randy Wood; and his stillborn sister, Robin Rae Wood.
