Sherri LaRae Presley

Shawnee resident, Sherri LaRae Presley, 59 years of age, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023, in her home surrounded by loved ones.  She was born July 15, 1964, in Fargo, North Dakota, to Scott and Joann (Kavaal) Presley.

Sherri graduated from cosmetology school and enjoyed remodeling homes with her mother and brother.  She worked for the Salvation Army for 15 years as the manager of the thrift store and the lodge.  She also acquired her Commercial Driver’s License and enjoyed making long tour hauls and driving a school bus.  During the following years, she worked various jobs.

Sherri’s favorite past times involved art and antiques, spending time with her grandchildren, or working in the garden.  She loved celebrating the holidays.

In 1982, Sherri met her first love, Gary Gavin Tutt, and she had a son, Roland Presley.  Ten years later, in 1992, she married Thomas Dunka and she had another son, Dalton Dakota Presley.

Sherri was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Alonzo Presley; son, Dalton D. Presley; Gary Garvin Tutt and Thomas Dunka.

Sherri is survived by her son, Roland Presley and wife, Ivonne, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; sister, Jennie Presley of Shawnee, Oklahoma; numerous nieces and other family members, and a host of friends.

The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to all the nurses with SSM Hospice who cared for Sherri.
