Ronald Keith McMahan

Ronald Keith McMahan, 71, passed away Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at his home in Tecumseh, OK, surrounded by his loving sons.

Born October 29, 1953, in Shawnee, OK, Ron was a lifelong Tecumseh resident. He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1971 and earned an associates degree from Seminole College in 1973.

Ron married Luanne Porter on June 20, 1980, and they had two sons – Tyrel and Timothy. They were loving partners who enjoyed life together on their ranch in Tecumseh for 38 years before her death in 2019.

As a young man, Ron worked as a dispatcher for the Tecumseh Police Department, then operated his own trucking business for several years. He went on to a 23-year career with the United States Postal Service, starting as a letter carrier and later serving as Postmaster in Ada, Tecumseh, and Macomb.

Ron loved a cowboy and western lifestyle. His boots and hat were requisite. He enjoyed working with his horses and cows; reading cowboy history, poetry, and songs; and serving as a docent at the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum. In 2021, legendary director, Martin Scorcese, cast Ron to play “The Oldtimer” in the film “Killers of the Flower Moon”.

He was a quiet man, but when he spoke, it was worth listening. Ron will forever be remembered for his remarkable toughness, smarts, and kindness.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Manilla McMahan; and wife, Luanne McMahan.

Survivors include sons, Ty McMahan of Oklahoma City and Tim McMahan of Purcell; sister and brother-in-law, Sherri and Rodney Pryor of Moore; nieces, Katie Frost and Julie Turner, both of Shawnee, Kacey Bishop of Sparks, Stephanie Winters of Moore, and Amy Pryor of Washington D.C.; nephews, Matt Porter of Newcastle and Patrick Pryor of Moore; and sister-in-law, Vickie Porter of Prague.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Tecumseh, OK.
