Richard Allen DeHaven, Sr.

Richard Allen DeHaven, Sr. of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on October 18, 2024.

Richard was born on June 25, 1956, to Jules Rodger DeHaven and Margaret Marie Hacker.

After graduation Richard was a cook at Steak ‘n Shake in Illinois and spent a couple years as a security specialist in the United States Air Force. He became a machinist in Oklahoma and later spent time as a security guard for the Citizen Potawatomi Nation Grand Casino and Resort.

Richard married Teresa Darnell on June 14, 1975, and had five children together, Richard Allen DeHaven, Jr., Michael Wayne DeHaven, James Robert DeHaven, John Paul DeHaven and Heather Renea DeHaven.

Richard loved his family and stood by his family throughout his life, and he held a very special place in their hearts. Richard never met a stranger he didn’t like and made friends with everyone that he came in contact with. He always had a way to make those around him feel safe and made them feel like family. He will be dearly missed by his family and the many people that he met throughout his life.

Richard follows his parents, two brothers, and his son, Richard Allen, in death.

Richard is survived by his children, Michael, James, John and Heather; seven grandchildren; one brother, Rodger, and two sisters, Faith and Sherry.
