Paul Magerkurth, 74, a native of Bartlesville, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on July 31, 2024, in Norman, Ok surrounded by family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family and friends.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife Terri of 46 years, son Andrew (Kristen), and his two cherished grandchildren, Harper and Oliver, sisters-in-law Donna Bennett(James), Pamela McMillan, Sandy Spencer(Bill), Patricia Grimm(Dan), sister Charolette Hawkins(Joe), and countless nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Tresa Magerkurth, in-laws Fred and Freda King, brother Larry Magerkurth, sisters Mary Jo Geary, Sally Curry, Cynthia Hutchinson and Jean Hinson. His devotion to family was unwavering, particularly in his later years, when his grandchildren became the center of his world.
Early in Paul’s professional life, he worked alongside his mother in her bridal shop constructing floral arrangements for many. For 35 years, Paul built a respected career in the banking industry, where his integrity and work ethic made a lasting impact on countless individuals. In retirement, he earned his favorite title of Bapaw. Upon retirement his favorite job was babysitting the long awaited little girl he had always wished for. When his little sidekick started school, Paul found his new purpose in life. Paul began substitute teaching at Norman High School, where he was loved and cherished by all.
Paul’s passions were as diverse as they were enriching. An avid reader throughout his life, he found joy and wisdom in the pages of countless books. Those who knew Paul will remember him for his extraordinary ability to connect with others. He truly never met a stranger, approaching everyone with an open heart and genuine interest. His kindness knew no bounds, his sense of humor always put on a smile and his gentle nature left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of Paul’s life will be held at Del City First Church of the Nazarene, located at 4701 SE 26th Street, Del City, Ok 73115 on August 24th at 11am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Paul’s name to, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
