Orva Nan Hastings was born on April 1, 1939, to Wynema (Cox) Walker and James Owen in Atwood, Oklahoma. She passed away on January 18, 2025, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, at 85 years of age.
Nan met Jerry Hastings, and they wed in 1957, going on to have three children: Mike, Sherri, and Kelly.
Nan was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Hastings; her mother and stepfather, Wynema and O.C. Walker; her father and stepmother, James and LaVerne Owen; her sister and brother-in-law, Dorcas and Earl Robinson; her sister, Marsha Walker; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Hallie Mae and Richard Hastings; her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patsy and Pal Sapp; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sandy and Ted Tabor.
Nan is survived by her three children, Mike Hastings and wife, Kim Hastings, of McLoud, OK; Sherri Aubert and husband, Donnie Aubert, of McLoud, OK; Kelly Rogers and husband, Mike Rogers, of Oklahoma City, OK; her two bonus children, Ray Suke and Julio Suke of McLoud, OK; her 14 grandchildren; her 19 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and her furry companion, Woody.
Nan worked at the McLoud Public School Cafeteria while her children were in school. She obtained her GED during that time. Then, she began working as a claims processor with the state department, which she retired from in 2001.
Nan enjoyed reading the Bible, riding horses, talking to friends, learning about her ancestry, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. It thrilled her when they came to visit.
The Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at the Lakeview Church of Christ with Brad Davison officiating. Nan will be buried in the Dale Cemetery.
