Louella Aletha Couch

Louella Aletha (Dalton) Couch of Tecumseh passed away Saturday, November 2, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.

Louella was born on June 6, 1938, in Oxnard, California. She lived with her parents in Moorpark, California, where, as an only child, she kept herself busy with paper dolls, her favorite pastime. In 1952, she and her family moved back to Norman, Oklahoma, where her parents had family.

In school, Louella discovered a love of music. She learned to play the clarinet in band, and then used her knowledge of music to learn to play the piano, then the organ. She used her talents to play the piano and organ for her church, the First Church of the Nazarene in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She would also play clarinet solos for the congregation and for special occasions.

While in high school, Louella met Earl Couch. They wed and were the parents of three children who were raised in Tecumseh. She was a homemaker until 1983, when she and Earl purchased Couch Sheet Metal. They were partners in every sense of the word, and she missed him greatly after his death in 1999. The sheet metal shop closed in 2004. She then worked at Stage & Firelake Grocery Store.

Louella was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Carl and Vera Dalton; and her daughter, Gayla Pledger.

Louella is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and David Combs; son, Dan Couch; granddaughters: Sarah Wallis, Kasey Long (Glen), Jennifer Burks, and Elara Corsaro; grandson, Jeremy Westerman; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff of Heritage Nursing Home in Tecumseh for the wonderful care given to Louella.

Visitation will be Thursday, November 7, 2024, noon – 7:00 p.m., at AE Funeral Services Chapel, 603 W. Independence St., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74804.

A funeral service will be held Friday, November 8, 2024, 2:00 p.m., at AE Funeral Services Chapel.
