John K. Parrish, long-time resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away on December 6, 2024, at the age of 87. He was born on July 25, 1937, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to John Orval Parrish and Viola Pearl (Coley) Parrish.

John grew up in Shawnee and graduated from Shawnee High School in 1955. He later joined the US Army and served from June 1957 to March 1960, last being stationed in Alaska. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base after his service in the military and was a Testing Equipment Operator at the time of his retirement.

Johnny, as he was known to the family, had a love for reading and was a voracious reader throughout his life, reading everything from mysteries, crime, westerns, to really any genre of books and magazines. He was also always working crossword puzzles!

Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Jimmy W. Parrish and Tommy D. Parrish.

Johnny is survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruby Ellis of Seminole, OK, and Michaela Parrish of Shawnee, OK; five nieces and nephews, Roger Parrish of Seminole, Julie Patton and husband, Noal, Tommy D. Parrish II, Amber Howard and husband, Matt, all of Shawnee, and Patrick Parrish of Enid; along with several other great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, January 7, 2025, 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery Pavilion in Shawnee, Oklahoma. www.aefuneralservices.com
