Jimmy Dale Ramsey, of Harrah, Oklahoma, went to his heavenly home July 29, 2024. He was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, on July 15, 1946, to James George Ramsey and Verna (Higgins) Ramsey.
After high school, Jimmy studied at Central State University for a couple of years before he served his country in the United States Navy. After his military service, he followed in his father’s footsteps as a car salesman and started his own company, Ramsey Motor Co., in Oklahoma City. He married the love of his life, Joyce Devoult, and together, they raised their three children in the Harrah-Choctaw area. He worshiped with the Moore Ave. Church of Christ in Nicoma Park, Oklahoma.
Jimmy was an avid coon hunter. He never missed an opportunity to go coon hunting with his sons, even after his health began to decline. He also enjoyed hunting quail and pheasant. His love for hunting led him to make several trips to California where he did bear and fox hunting with close friends. He also enjoyed horses, mule riding and fishing. He especially loved to spend time with his family and friends.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, James and Verna Ramsey.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Joyce Ramsey of the home; son, Billy Ramsey of Stratford, OK; son, James Ramsey and wife, Stacey, of Crescent, OK; daughter, Joy Dale Tweten and husband, William, of Harrah, OK; 10 grandchildren and multiple great grandchildren; brother, Joe Ramsey, of Dallas, TX; sister, Darla Savage, of Stratford, OK; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and a host of friends.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 2, 2024, 10:00 a.m., at Harrah Memory Lane Cemetery, 20451 NE 10th St., Harrah, Oklahoma 73045.
