Jerry Wayne Miller, born September 6, 1939, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully January 29, 2025, in Wellston, Oklahoma. He was 85 years old.

Jerry graduated from Putnam City High School in 1958 and attended Panhandle A&M before serving three years in the U.S. Army as part of the 101st Airborne Division. After his military service, he married Vicki Lynn Tate May 29, 1965, beginning a devoted partnership that spanned nearly six decades. Together, they raised three children.

Following his time in the Army, Jerry pursued higher education and earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Education. While completing his studies, he worked at Transcon for ten years. He then embarked on a fulfilling career as an educator and coach, first at Western Oaks for five years and later at Harrah Middle School, where he spent 25 years inspiring students and athletes.

Jerry cherished family trips to Colorado, skiing adventures, and time spent outdoors on his beloved 30-acre property in Wellston. Whether fixing fences or relaxing under a shade tree with loved ones, he found joy in life’s simple pleasures. A devoted Green Bay Packers fan, he often quipped his favorite saying: “When in doubt, punt.”

After retiring, Jerry enjoyed traveling and camping with Vicki and watching their grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. He is survived by his wife, Vicki Tate Miller; children, Cody Michael Miller and wife, Kim, Christy Lynn Vinson and Charlie Ballard, and C.R. “Jack” Miller and wife, Shelly; six grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren, including great-grandson, Tyshawn Edward Jones; sisters, Jayne Manley and Connie LeGrange. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.R. and Delpha Miller.
