Genevieve Yvonne Hawk

Genevieve Yvonne Hawk, 93, of Shawnee, Oklahoma, passed away October 4, 2024. She was born in Merdrignac, France, on May 20, 1931, to Jean-Baptiste Jamin and Celeste (Josset) Jamin.

Genevieve, who did not speak a word of English, moved to Seattle, Washington, in 1952 to acquire work. There she met her future husband, Herb Hawk, in 1955. They were married in 1957 in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and moved to Shawnee in 1960. She was happy to become a U.S. Citizen on December 13, 1977.

Genevieve was preceded in death by her husband, Herb; parents, Jean-Baptiste and Celeste; two brothers and two sisters.

Genevieve is survived by daughters: Marie Bowden and husband, Eddie, of Shawnee; Rita Roller and husband, Doyle, of Tecumseh; Francoise Reynolds and husband, Wesley, of Shawnee; son, John Paul Hawk of Ada; 5 grandchildren: Justin and Britton Roller, April Brock, Weston Reynolds, and Taylor Stockwell; 10 great grandchildren: Zoie, Kloie, Kaylie, Hudson and Carter Roller, Gunner Head, Blair and Katy Jo Brock, Garrett Mandel, Hadley and Paisley Stockwell, and a new one due in November; and many family members in France and Canada.

The family of Genevieve want to say “Thank You” to Shawnee Care Center and Centric Hospice for the care given to their loved one.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024, 12:00 noon, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, 632 N. Kickapoo Ave., Shawnee, Oklahoma 74801.
