David Lee Sweeting, age 79, passed away on March 12, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. He was born in Syracuse, New York, on August 19, 1945, to William Wallace Sweeting and Edith May Getz.
David enjoyed baseball while in school and continued to enjoy it as an adult. He also enjoyed bowling, working on cars, driving for hours, playing bingo, music and dancing, and dachshunds. He loved to dance to “Sneaky Snake” by Tom T. Hall, and sing “How Far to Heaven” by Kitty Wells to the kids. “Down in the Boondocks” by Billy Joe Royal was special to him because it described where he came from. When he enjoyed the hunt for a good deal, he was a hustler. He loved playing with his grandchildren and always enjoyed a lively conversation around his sister’s (Shelley Sherman) table with his brothers and sisters.
David was predeceased by his great grandson, Lucas Able Sweeting; brothers and sisters: Bessie Staring, William Sweeting Jr., Vernon Sweeting Sr., Elizabeth Jones, Mary Jones, Morris Sweeting Sr., Richard Sweeting Sr., Timothy Monette, Victor Sweeting, JoAnn Ineich, John Sweeting Sr., and Shelley Sherman.
