Chevis Shenold Sharp

Chevis Shenold Sharp was born on January 30, 1973, to Cletta Joyce Sharp and Glenn Ray Banks in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  He was the oldest of five children and was also known as “Chev Roc”.  Chevis grew up in Oklahoma City, later moved to Seminole, Oklahoma, and then to Shawnee where he attended Shawnee High School.  In the earlier years of his life, he enjoyed riding horses with his childhood friends, shooting BB guns, and many other outdoor activities.  After high school, he worked at Wrangler as a forklift driver and then, later, he went to work at Central Plastic.

Chevis accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior during childhood and attended Galilee Baptist Church.  He enjoyed living life to the fullest and spending time with his children and family.  He loved playing video games with his boys and enjoyed coaching little league baseball with his son.  He also loved going to the casino and watching sports.  He wanted to be a storm chaser, so he loved to follow storms.  He was such a caring and loving person and never met a stranger.  He had a sweet and humble spirit, and he made everyone he met feel loved.

Chevis transitioned January 29, 2024, at home surrounded by his family and close friends after battling lung cancer.

Chevis was preceded in death by his parents, Cletta Joyce Sharp and Glenn Ray Banks; one brother, Damion Sharp; great-great grandmother, Salina Sims; two great-grandmothers, Cora Sharp and Lula Mae Jackson Smith; grandmothers, Alma Mae Banks and Dorothy Lee Sharp; two aunties, Regina Sharp and Belinda Anderson; three uncles—Ronnie Banks, Dewey Drennon and Wayland Banks.

Chevis leaves behind to cherish his memory, three sisters—SharRhonda Kelly (Willie), Shanta Sharp, and Justina Banks; one brother, Glenn Banks, Jr.; his four sons—Ryan Sharp, Ka’Veon Sharp, Chevis Sharp, Jr., and Asher Haymond (step-son); two daughters, Donesha McVea and J-Lynn Haymond (step-daughter); five grandchildren; close friend and caretaker, Trisha Haymond; seven aunties—Denna Banks, Debbie Banks, Rhonda Banks, Almeda Johnson (Tony), Stephanie Drennon, Jeanetta Drennon and Denise Drennon; also, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved and adored.

The family acknowledges with deep appreciation the many acts and expressions of kindness during our time of bereavement.  Your prayers, floral tributes, cards, calls and other expressions made the burden easier to bear.  May God continue to bless each of you.
